War in Croatia. One of many prisoners exchange. A man without identity or memories is in one of the trucks. As a result of inadvertent circumstances, he is named Jakov Ribar. From the line of prisoners he wonders off into the minefield. The main character reveals how this “small” war at the end of the millennium is unbearable and awful for him. Only the film images, that the director leads us through, partly explain this confusing situation. Many soldiers and also civilians were involved in collective evil and madness. Numerous destinies and stories are the result of a kind of “diary of bizarre events” that the author kept about the war at the beginning of the nineties. Thus, everything is based on true stories. The film does not strictly belong to the war film genre, and is not a classical narrative. Skies Satellites was filmed at the estuary of the river Neretva into the Adriatic Sea, in the southern part of Croatian Coast.
