The series is conceived as a family comedy with crime elements. The main storyline takes place in the home of police officer Nikola Oblak, who lives with his wife — unable to find steady employment and therefore working off the books — and their two adolescent sons. One of them can’t seem to finish school, while the other is intellectually superior to everyone else in the household. Nikola is an idealist and an honest man who believes in certain human values and often sees them even where they do not exist, whereas the other members of his family are far more realistic and inclined toward actions that, although harmless, operate on the edge of legality. The contrasting personalities and tendencies within the family are a source of humorous situations and plot complications. In each episode, Nikola also solves a criminal case whose complexity corresponds to his rank as a police sergeant.
